More pressure is usually required for cold chamber castings than for hot chamber die castings.

High Pressure Injection

- The melting of aluminum alloys takes place in a separate furnace from the die casting machines.
- Then use a manual or robotic arm scoop to transfer the liquid aluminum into the equipment's shot sleeve.
- The molten metal will then be pushed into the mold by the piston with great pressure. Now allow the casting to cool and solidify inside the molds for a predetermined period of time.
- The finished casting should be removed after the mold halves have been separated.
Low Pressure Injection
There are some notable structural differences between a low-pressure aluminum injection molding machine and a high-pressure aluminum die casting apparatus.
Below is a description of the low pressure die casting process for aluminum.
- Aluminum alloy is melted in a tightly sealed furnace. The riser tube connects the mold halves placed on top of the furnace.
- Apply low air pressure from inside the furnace. As a result, the molten aluminum will rise along the tube and fill the mold cavity.
- Keep the air pressure constant until the casting hardens.
- Finally, remove the casting by opening the molds.
